Here is a carp from the other day on the Medina River. Guesstimated him at 10 to 12 pounds. Those river carp put up an unbelievable fight. Caught on corn.

Beautiful fish, congrats! River carp are exceptional fighters, and carp are great fighters to begin with! Beautiful looking river too.

The Medina River water body record is 9.59 pounds. Sounds like you release the record.
What part of the river? I go there every once in a while because it is relatively close.
PB Common Carp....... 38 lbs PB Mirror Carp........12 lbs 8 oz PB SM Buffalo........ 53 lbs PB Grasser........... 48 lbs 4 oz PB Blue cat.......... 17 lbs (caught on maize)

Thats above English Crossing, near hwy 1283. Above the lake. If that fish is a record there are plenty more swimming around that big or larger in those holes. After catching that one and two smaller carp in about 20 minutes, I was done for the day and went back to bream and bass fishing. The way the carp ate that corn so eagerly, I could have caught carp until I dropped. Catching 10 pound river carp on 10lb test and a medium action bass rod, it wouldn't have taken many to wear me out.
