Bissell PowerForce. $40 at WalMart. Genuine old fashioned kind with the bag. I live alone so it is rarely used. I got the tip on this vacuum because it was the one used by a contract cleaning crew at work. It's a good vac for the mney.

We have a bag-less Eureka that is several years old that has been a good one. I don't think it was but about $150 give or take $

I recently read somewhere a story on vacuums that said that big expense doesn't necessarily mean great performance. They specifically mentioned the Dyson as not performing any better than a much cheaper vacuum.

We have an Oreck XL,it really does weigh only 8 lbs.Only drawbacks are a bit pricey,although we had it over 4 yrs. only have had to replace the drive brush($30-$40 bucks including installation)last year and you have to buy the bags (pack of 9-$25.00)direct from them either on-line or they have a store in Vista Ridge close to my house.As vacummn cleaners go it does a good job and we did get a cannister vacuum thats great for automobiles and tight corners FREE!

Do not buy the Dirt Devil long handled bagless vac--its really a more powerful dust buster with a long handle and sweeper attachment--just $20. I bought one to vaccuum the two carpet mats in and 8 x 8 guard shack. Not enough suction. After a while the vac fails to tay together becasue the little tab and slot in the middle wear thin. The stupid little filter has to just about be scrape to get the debris out of it.

We have a Kirby. Freaking expensive but very good. I was actually little peaved when my wife told me she bought it, but now that we have had it for several years I am glad we do.

We have a Kirby purchased new in 1984 and still in use at the main house...At the lake house, I use the $40 Bissel from Wal-Mart...It's as good as the Kirby with suction and lighter...Not to mention a LOT less expensive...

Miele - Dog & Cat. Nice vac...bags are small and very expensive if you go for the high filtration model. It is an expensive vac, and I am not convinced it is worth the extra expense.

we jst went thru this over here at my house, we have had a hoover, dirt devil and a dyson ahd they all didnt work a darn, so we went to Evan vacum shop on camp bowie and bought a Riccar,pricey but worth it
