Gordon Ramsey needs to visit every DQ in America. It used to be a good place with fast service, clean dining room and attentive staffers.
I blame whoever is in charge of their Franchise dept for the problems.

Go to DQ for lunch. But dont expect your food til supper. I went to the one out by Cypress Springs. Got there around 7pm or so. Got my food around 7:45ish. I try to avoid them. At least when you go to Whataburger, the wait is worth it. I think they are putting themselves out of business. I wouldnt blame Sonic. They havent hurt anyone elses business. Well, you can now get a McDonalds hamburger that wasnt left over from last night. See, they helped McD's.

There is a Whataburger in Canton,TX, on the northern frontage road near the Hwy 19 intersection. ( exit 527 from I-20)...that must be family owned and operated. Great service, as good of food as Whataburger offers anywhere and reasonably clean most of the time.
The hamburger buns are soft and fresh on the outside and lightly toasted on the inside. The staff is fast, friendly and courteous. This owner is involved with his business and it shows. A rarity these days.

EXACTLY! DQ is plagued with old, dirty buildings, could-care-less absentee franchise ownership, and a weak franchise standards enforcement system. Some are pretty good, but most are a 'food-borne illness outbreak' waiting to happen! The parent company has their work cut out for them if they expect to survive! In the meantime, Sonic, Whataburger, and McD are kicking arse and NOT looking back!

Sometime you just gotta have a steak fingers basket and a blizzard. The steak-finger country basket and blizzard are my top choices there.

What's the deal with DQ's only being in small towns in Texas? I see them all the time when I drive a few hours out of DFW to fish somewhere, but don't know of any around here.
Up north, though, they are ( Or were a few years ago ) all over the place in the metroplexes.

Randall and I like What-A-Burger and Sonic both, and rarely stop at DQ's.
However, we have found that the DQ's in the smaller towns west and north west of the Metro Mess, are pretty good in the food and service departments.

I know of two really well run, clean DQ's. In Forney at the Hwy 80/740 exit, east bound sits one of the busiest DQ's I've ever seen! A consistently great place for a DQ Dude or some ice cream served by a great group of folks.
In Mesquite on Gross Road just off of 635 is the other. An Asian couple run this one and do an outstanding job, just like the one in Forney. I have never got to complain about either of these places.

I have one in my town. I broke down and took the kids about a month ago because they had been bugging me to take them and finally broke me down. Hadn't been in this one in about 10 years. The burgers were OK but the floor was gross dirty. The "help" was scary looking. I won't be back to this one. There is a pretty clean one just south of Lufkin on 69 in Huntington. I grew up eating at DQ's but I have many more choices now.
