You guy's make sure you pay your launch fee and fill out the ticket and the stub correctly. Also make sure it is displayed where the cop's can read it. The cop's have an itchy trigger finger for tickets there lately and any little thing wrong with the payment and stubs they will write a ticket. Even if you don't put TX where it says state they will wrute a ticket for having the form not correctly filled out.

Is this an open or do you have to be a member of the bass club?

I fished this afternnon out there and if today is any indication it may be a slug fest. I caught over 35 fish with half being slot fish at least. Had 2 oversat about 4lbs or so a piece and a lot of big unders. Also had some big spots. Had a couple of 17" and 16" fish. When you find them they are stacked up. It was an excellent day. Started out slow but it picked up well.

Would you care to share some spots? I've never been there & don't have a clus as to where to start.

Really just covered a lot of water. It started out very slow for me then it kind of clicked. Best thing I can say is the wind is your friend. I really do not know the Vine that well so it may all go to pot tommorrow. I wish I knew it better or I would say more. I have always caught numbers out there and usually a few slot fish but today was phenomenol. I was kinda wondering why they even had a slot for a while... coolio...the overs came later in the day in about 2-4ft of water. Just so no one is thinking I am jacking around I had someone with me for alot of it and I took pix of the overs on a measuring board. I would no joke about something like that.

Dave- I havent been there in forever but I will tell you what I would do if I were going there tomorrow. I would start first thing on the dam throwing cranks and work down it pretty fast to try and see where/if there are fish hanging there. After I worked it all the way, I would go back to fish a shaky head in any areas I caught fish. Brown worms with a pink tail(dip in red spike it).

if nada, by this time the sun would be up and I would start working some points. remember, lots of crappie guys have put brushpiles out there( in fact I remember a post saying there were toooo many).

I would be C-riggin a char/pepper LFT baby ringfry or a Grandebass baby rattlesnake.

Keep one rod with the biggest slab you can find, to beat off the ski boats smile

We had 11 boats and Joey Deans and his partner Brandon won with 8+ and big bass with a 4.88. They caught the only over. Congrats to Joey and Brandon. It was a good day, but a dinkfest.

Thanks to Robert and Casey for hanging out as long as they did for some of the guys this morning.

Ray Hubbard bass Club - Lake Grapevine

Fun day on the vine with cool overcast morning turning breezy, hot and humid.

Lots of small fish and slot fish caught with only one over weighed in. Congratulations to Brandon and Joey with the "over" for big bass and 4 dinks to round out their sack. Crankbaits and soft plastics ruled the rocks, marinas and shallows.

One member had partner problems - Vince we are praying for a speedy recovery. One member had tire/spare problems. Some had a late start and one was gifted by Grapevine by a ticket he did not deserve. Its a shame when someone tries to do it right and the city still tickets them. I am sure it will be an issue that may keep our club and others from visiting this otherwise fine lake.

It was fun and when you have a limit that totals 2 pounds at 6:50Am that is fun also.

Robert and I caught
32 bass with a lot of those being slots
3 Catfish
2 Crappie
1 Shad

Another crazy thin is I broke off a White Crank bait on the dam and one of our other club members caught it later in the day,

Robert, you need a new net man LOL

Sounds like fun. If you guys don't mind send me the contact info on who got the ticket. I am trying to put something together and get some media interest to expose their little scam they have working out there. There are complaints like that almost daily. They either need to find competent folks to write the tickets or get the negative publicity from the scam they run.

Sounds like a good time had by all! Unfortunately I was unable to make it given that I am still in the process of preparing the new boat. However, SOCAL TOM and I will be fishing the remainder of the tournaments.
