Fished with some good folks today. Rocky Swindell, his dad Billy and buddy Paul. Had a fun day and enjoyed meeting them. We started a little after daybreak over around the Red Barn. Birds were working and found them schooling when we got there. Don't know how many we caught, but it was about every cast for the first half hour. They were nice sandies and small hybrid. They did not stay up long this morning and the birds left pretty quick. Tried to back out off the points and see if there were any keeper hybrid with no luck. Hit another couple points on the west side and caught a few more sandies. Went up to the peanut and caught a couple about 9am and then all the catching came to a halt. We had a good break for a couple hours hitting a few spots and did some graphing on the South side, but the wind got pretty stout and decided to head farther North and get out of the wind. About 11am we got back on fish up at the RP. Birds started working again and we caught another 30-40. The wind laid about noon so we decided to graph a couple spots I have marked in deep water and finally found a few nice fish. We ended the day with 6 hybrid that kept and another dozen or so that were right under 18". I think the bigger fish are about to show back up. Caught all our fish today on a RJR 1oz slab. Tried to fish a sassy shad and tail kicker a little, but the fish just wanted something that drops pretty fast today. We cleaned 75 sandies, a couple hybrid, and 4 catfish they caught while I was cleaning the whites! All in all a pretty good day. May head out about 6pm tonight and let the kids catch a couple, the wind is almost calm and they are having a concert over at The Harbor, looks like a beautiful evening!
