Heading to LL for first time Sat morning...planning to launch at Little Elm Park. Would I be wasting my time staying north of the 720 bridge? We are only fishing for a few hours, and didn't want to run all over the lake.

Thinking of topwater/shallow bite early around cover, then deeper points a bit later.

Thanks.

Go to the cove strait accross from the launch. If you are only going to spend a few hours you can spend it in there and probably do OK.

IMHO Lewisville is not a very good lake for LMB. I have had some luck by the cut by the old dam, the small cove by lake park golf course and at the pump station over on the Hickory Creek side. like i said not a very good LMB lake, but a great lake for Hybrids and Sandies.

OH Yeah.....watch out for all of the MORONS and $30K millionaires in their 40 ft cigarette boats.

I have tried that cover many times, with very little success. I figured I never had much luck because of the pressure that cove gets, but it's very possible, it's just me.

You can certainly go North from that ramp and find them. Watch for stumps up there.

no one said there were no bass in LL. I just said it is not a very good bass lake. you must be one of the few that think it is.

we can agree to disagree then. I personally have not had very good luck on LL. Grapevine has been much better to me recently.

And those weights came under some bluebird skies, post frontal, falling muddy, water conditions. Not too mention the spawn is so out of whack timing wise on most lakes around here the fish are almost bipolar from the weird weather.
Lewisville has whipped me more than once but I think it was more operator error than the lake being a bad bass lake.

I don't think the lake is great but it can surely be great. However, I think it was slightly a fluke...It is not too often that 11-12 lbs puts you at the middle of the pack...

I'll take my chances with 11-12lbs there r just about any DFW tourney lake on our side of town anyday though. It is usually money on Lewisviile, EM, the Vine and others.

The Media Tourney was the 1st time we actually put together a limit on LL. We normally catch fish but mainly all dinks (10-13 inchers) I was excited to catch a limit and thought we might have a chance at some $$$ but boy was I wrong...We caught all of our keepers except 1 after 12:30.

Once summer pattern kicks in it will usually take close to a 20 lb sack.

Well when you go to the lake twice or three times a year it is tough. Put the time in and you will see the lake is not a fluke. I spend 3 days a week on that lake but if I am fishing another lake for fun or a tourny I try to figure out where the fish are in a few hours I don't just run to spots where I caught fish before. Put the time in on the lake and you will change your mind!

apparently you didn't read in my profile where i live. i spend a lot of time on LL, and here recently on the vine. As I said before I have not had good luck on LL, but have really good luck on the vine. if you really want to know the truth all of the DFW lakes suck for LMB compared to the East Tx Lakes.

Been to Ray Roberts lately? So, since YOU haven't had any good luck that makes it a bad LMB lake....Preciate the report....Let me know where you were fishin so I don't have the same run of bad luck as you. ;\)

Kinda like comparing steak to baloney if you compare ours to East Texas.... ...our lakes may not be great but I like 'em all.

According to your post the places you say you had luck at are great places for sandbass and hybrids. They just are not the places you would go for LMB. The cove by the golf course has given up some big sacks at certain times of the year. You just have to know when that is. That is why you think it is a great lake for Hybrids and Sandbass.

LvilleLrat....yes they are good place for hybrids and sandies, but i have had some, i said SOME luck with LMB in those areas too. I have fished that entire lake multiple times, and have had limited success with the LMB on LL. Just because some people on TFF say LL is a good lake for LMB doesn't mean it is true. I have spoken with a ton of people outside this forum that share the same thought on LL as me. everyone is entitled to their opinion. LL is good for hybrids, sandies, and dodging dumb****s in their 40ft cigarette boats.

I fish the lake 4 days a week.. I think it's a pretty good lake for LMB. Looking for them is a little tricky at times.

Yesterday I snabbed 3 off a few points using weightless rattle snakes and ring frys..

No fish seem to be hittng my Junebug or Red shad worms, mostly it's chart and watermellon red. All my fish were in open water as well, now I threw to structure but they were all cruising out in around 4-5 feet of water.

Going to be fun dodging the d%Sk holes today..

A good fisherman can adapt to all lakes.. I seem to remember when the B.A.S.S was at LL they weighed in some good strings...It just goes to show you, that your probably not as good as you think you are.. myself included..
