well, ten years after graduating from high school my wife and i have decided to put the future on hold so i can get my teaching certificate. As most of u now i was in the parts business until my father past away and since then i have been job hopping. This has been tiring on the both of us and we have realized i wont be happy until i can do what i've always wanted to do. So, starting in the fall i will be working part-time and going to school full-time. Although this will likely take away most of my fishing time, i am very excited about my future now. i have always wanted to teach and coach. i will probably be selling some gear to get me through this toughtime so that should give yall something to laugh about. just the euro rods though. just dont think we will have the cash to be going on any austin trips for a while. but we will see.

Good luck man! Make sure you get certified in a high demand area. I'm a certified EC-4 teacher with English as a second language endorsement. After a year of looking, I'm working as an accountant (what my degree is in).

Forget teaching go to nursing. Especially home health. You would have so much free time and make a killing.

Do you have to change bed pans and give baths?

Nope that is a CNA who changes bed pans and gives bath. All I do is take vital signs, assess patients and give shots and check blood sugars give insulin and sometimes do wound care.

I think Tracy went to school for only a year. This was a couple years ago and now he makes twice what I make and I have a degree in Microbiology! Seems like a smart move to me!

Kevin, I've heard you talk about coaching and teaching for a while now. I think going back to school is a good move! Good luck!

I have been teaching at a college for 6 years now. Good money right at 62k (9 month contract) with all the bells and whitles. I am done MWF at by 1pm at the latest and T-Th by 3pm have a month off during Christmas and since I opt to teach in the summer (7am to 11am M-Th) the I only get 5 weeks off between spring and summer sessions but teching in the summer adds another 6k to the above mentioned salary. If I decided not to teach in the summer it would be 3 months off.

I love to teach (at the college level, I only wish I had done it earlier.

Taking nursing is a honarable and noble profession but in todays world I woud rather stear clear of too much personal contact. Also the campus I teach at has one of the best nursing programs in Texas.

Good luck Kev let me know if I can help in anyway.
