Is there a better cookbook ?

Just sent off for the Annual 2007 Edition. Great sounding recipes.

Most are by my two favorite cooks. Cole and Les Trawl. lol

What's your favorite cookbook ?

Kind of like this one by Grady Spears, A Cowboy In The Kitchen, but the Southern Living collection is hard to beat.

You made a good choice.

Another good one is the old standby Better Homes & Garden's New Cook Book.

Hey BBrown,
Bought it a while back. It was a new reprint and they tinted the edges of the pages to make it look like an original.

Butter
Cream
Sugar
Lard

Enough to make 'ol Cole and Les proud. lol

Great Cookbook and makes me realize how lazy most us have gotten now when preparing food. Back then a big meal meant a long day gettin 'er done.

Every year Cooking Light magazine puts out a cookbook with all their recipes for the year. I get them at Sam's for cheap. Lots of good recipes that aren't overboard with non-fat cheese, sour cream, etc...

I'll have to check out Grady's books. I have a Rick Bayless one that I like. The rest of mine are pretty much a hodgepodge.

The hands down best cookbook I have is a Family one. About 20 years ago we had a family reunion and someone had the great idea for everyone to bring 5-10 of their favorite recipes to it then had those compiled into a book. Chicken and dumplings recipe exactly like Grandma made them is priceless now. As are many others like my Aunts duck recipe, and many more from family that are no longer with us.
