SO today its cloudy in Spring, rained hard yesterday and I am off of work today and feel like going to try out the neighborhood pond. I know its got fish in it....I have caught a few white bass out if it, and stocked it with about 3 dozen Bass minnows 2 months ago, along with 5 big cats...I am really just trying to fish for what they stocked in the pond. I thought about trying a rainbow baby minus one, and a yellow spinnerbait. ???? any ideas I am a newbie fisher that just loves to fish.

Absolutely, you need to go. If the water is still in fairly good shape after the rains I would start with top water. I killed them on top all day yesterday. If it is too windy or the water is muddy I would definitely go with a spinnerbait. Try a darker skirt with a Colorado blade if the water is muddy. If it is just too windy for top waters and the water is still fairly clear, I would use chartreuse and white or a shad color.

The bottom line is this...any time you get a chance to go, it's a good time to go. Let us know how you do.

Well I went and fished it for about an hour and a half and pulled in 5 little ones, biggest was 2-lbs. I ended up using a white buzz bait with great success. But I look forward to fishing this pond in a year or so. when those little ones get big!!!!

Glad to here you had some success. There's nothing like a good topwater day.
