I'm on my second set of trolling motor bolts. Been using the insulator bolts with the rubber inserts. I'm sure they sure save some trolling motor shafts, but they seem to pull free pretty easy(or I'm too hard on them ). What does everyone else use?
Just use stainless bolts. What you want to do is cut the tube off of the inserts and use the flat part between you trolling motor and boat. I had to do this my self and I have not had any more problems with it. I hope this helps you.
I cut the isolator off like Wes said but then I put a big fender wsher under each bolt with a locking nylon nut. The fender washer helps spread the amount of force you are putting on the fiberglass in one area. The nylon nut speaks for itself. I have never had any issue when I do it this way. Once a year I check them and they are always tight. Hope this helps.

This is the only way to do it and make it stay, that I know of and I have tried several different approaches.
