The Mini-X has a lot of nice features (lightweight, easy to transport and store, stable). I'd try as many as possible beforehand.

I'm going to be up around Lake Grapevine at the end of May. If you'd like to try out a Mini-X, just let me know. I also have a Scrambler I might be able to bring with if you'd like to try out one of those as well. I would definitely sit in the Scrambler before buying one. Sometimes people find that the seating area is too narrow to be comfortable for them.

I bought my son a Mini-X online from Austin Canoe and Kayak. It was delivered yesterday afternoon. He took it out on a local creek this morning and loved it. He caught a bluegill on his first cast! His friend went out in his Old Town Dirigo. He tried out my sons new Malibu Mini-X and now he wants one.

Last week, there were what looked like a couple of good deals on dallas craigslist. Before I could think through the logistics, they were gone within 24 hours.

I need to learn to pull the trigger a little quicker.

yeah good deals vanish quick, I might have a srambler XT/ speck for sale...a little faster then a mini-x still easy enough to transport.

I just bought my 1st yak, I went with the Manta Ray 12 and it is an outstanding boat. Plenty of room for your gear, stable, and comfy. Try to paddle a few before you buy, see what you like best.
