I would pack 4 inch sassy shads (to throw into surfacing fish) with 1/2 oz heads, humdingers or similar if its smaller surfacing fish, and some 3/4oz or 1oz slabs. Might want to bring some hellpet rigs to troll with as a backup plan for kids. Try the east corner of the dam early (6:45am early) or in front of the Holiday marina early as well. Around 20ft deep seems to be the spot on Tawak in May. Try just east of Rabbit Point, the entrance to Holiday, off Cloud Pt and Sun Pt (the tip of the underwater points). Mid day and afternoon the Wolf humps out from Holiday should produce.

Bait shop called "the shed" had large shiners a couple of weeks ago.

cloud & spring point will do you good, the area north of holiday marina is also good, try the humps at the dam, if that don't work follow the other boats. good luck

we have been catching a few around the greenville pump station and off finger point (waco bay north side) as well and those are both fairly close to both the state park and 276 ramps

Might also try Black Point, the main lake point between Ash and Duck. It is a good spot year round, but this time of year a lot of fish stop there and stay when they come out of the creeks. Have caught some giants there in late springtime.

Took my 2 kids out yesterday for a surprise after school special. Looked for birds from marina to the dam.. nothing. decided to swing back to the holiday humps after an hour and a half of nothing but good weather. Cruised onto a mess of bubbling waters and no birds. Action started with my 9yr old daughter catching a 16" sandie. Action was very good. My daughter ended up with 7 "big" sandies and my 7 yr old son with 1 sandie. I was able to snag 3 sandies and 2 21" Hybrids inbetween netting and unhooking their fish. My daughter had a good size hybrid snap her line at the boat. She was very upset and now I have to go buy her a real rod & real...LOL. They were using the 4' kiddie combo's they sell at walmart with 6lb test. The kids were using 2-1/2" pearl sassy shads, and I was throwing the 4" glow dipped with a 1oz head. The kids had a blast.

I'll be there just shortly after daylight Saturday morning.. Hoping to get some shad with cast net before I start hitting the humps and watching the birds..
