Thanks, I guess we'll need some more rain to get things to pick up a little.

There's good information on this thread and through out the forum. If everyone will respect each other in the forum and on the water/banks, we should be fine. It's okay to challenge or question something that someone is doing, but there's not a need for bashing, racism, name calling or to be judgemetal. I just didn't feel like honest people had to defend themselves to asinine remarks and comments based upon another sportsman's beliefs. It wasn't a subject of moral and ethics, but merely someone who just wanted to keep his legal earnings. If everyone released all the fish they have caught, what would happen to the ecosystem? The fish will overproduce and run out of forage and then starve to death. That's not a pretty sight. One again, the State and other private organizations work diligently to mitigate incidents like this from happening.

Thanks to all who thought I was respectful and fair.
For all others, same to you.

How many of us have gone over the speed limit to work on Monday? Let's not be hypocrits as much as we can.

There you have it, Lee's a law abiding citizen not afraid to show the truth. People like you and I pour money into this slow economy by fueling our cars and boats, investing tons of money on fishing gear and supporting the local marinas. We even take a kid fishing when we can. What's not to like. The only time I'm bending over is to pick my fish up!

I did not do too well at Denison dam Satruday. Dam was shut off around 9am when i got there. Went back again around 6pm and only the generators was on running. I did not see anyone catch anything. Stayed till 1am and caught only 1 medium striper. They shut off the water aroudn 12 midnight and water level went down again. Denison Dam pissed me off so bad, i dont know if i wanna go down there again. Is there a phone number to call to check if the dam is open before i make my 1 hour drive?

Are you feeling lucky, Lee?

It is a total carp shoot whether they will following their published generation schedule or not. The guys I feel sorry for are the ones who drive all the way from Austin to fish.

There is a phone number but it is update Mon-Fri only. No weekend updates regarding the generation schedule. That number is 903-465-1491.

This is a link to the generating schedule. Just go down to Texoma. Realize this is not chipped in stone. If they need power they will turn the generators on to fill that power order regardless of the generation schedule and the water may not be on during the scheduled generation times if power is not needed.

http://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/power/hydropower.html#Day%200

Here is a link to the real time generating data. It is updated every 15 minutes and the water is on at that time if it says it is on.

http://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/ops_hydropower/hydromainpage.html

It appears they started generating at 7:00 am this morning.

Are any of y'all familar with the area of the Red River down by the Carpenter's Bluff bridge? They had to rescue a mother and her three children there yesterday morning. Apparently they were totally unfamilar with the area. They waded the low water to an island that is visible when the water is off. The corps turned the generators on and they were stranded. Emergency personnel that had been called to the scene were able to get some fishermen in a boat to rescue them. This could have been very ugly very quick if the fishermen had not been there.

That is funny, we were there on Saturday around 2AM and saw a truck with boat trail stuck in the water at the sandy beach area on Oklahoma side.

aussie, unfortunately the info there is about as reliable as what is on the corps of engineers site. Both state the water was to be turned on around 12:00 but it was on at 7:00 am today. That is why it is good to check the real time hydropower section.

they change it according to power needs to their customers. If they need extra they generate earlier, if they cancel and no longer need it, they stop generating. That is their money, fisherman do not make the dam any money, we just support daves ski and tackle.

I think the water is running as far as the COE is concerned.
Here is the link that TexasBlonde provided. Hope this is helpful and good luck if you go. Let us know how you did.
