Hey guys, Me and Duck Jerky are planning our annual trip to Colorado again this summer an dare looking for ideas. We usually go out of the Dillon and Silverthorne area. We fish the Blue and have even gone as far west as the Fryingpan river south of Glenwood Springs. I am looking at possibly taking us on a float trip one day while we are there and was wondering if there were any suggestions or other areas to try. I have talked with Cutthroat Anglers in Dillion and they seem like good people and that is usually where we get our license and flies. Thanks

Dave

Never had the pleasure of fishing there, so I cannot help you. Hope you have a wonderful trip though!

Cutthroat is who I was going to recommend. We went 2 years ago and they really took good care of us.

Go to southfork. not as far as a drive, and probably some of the best fishing in the state. that area gets more snow that anywhere in the state, and the trout fishing is awesome. you can also float the rio grande, or head down to float the san juan. i know a guide that does both, and is great. i know that area like the back of my hand, and can help you get started, if you want. the rio grande around father's day is unbelievable. the salmon flies go nuts, and you can catch the best fish of the year, at that time, and a bunch of them. call the local fly shop ahead of time for info:

ask for Mike Garret at the post below:

Hope this helps, can't go wrong, troutbum

Not driving, we fly into Denver and drive the hour and a half to Silverthorne. Where is the closest airport to Southfork?? Albuquerque??

there is a very small airport in alamosa. I also believe you can fly into pagosa, and durango. not big jets, but little comersial planes. Big airports would include albuquerque, sante fe.
