Wandering if anyone has heard anything about changing or closing the pass? Talked with a lady today from Beaumont whose father (who is retired) fishes Rollover quite a bit. She mentioned an article that was published in the Beaumont paper about changes to the cut at rollover? Wandering if anyone has heard anything about this or if she had her wires crossed up? Spending a week in June at rollover...wandering if this is something currently happening or a few years in the future?

Found my own answer by googling the Beaumont paper. Apparently the pass is not state funded and the association is paying 1,051 per month for trash and sanitation cost.

Considering all the GARBAGE that gets thrown down on the ground around the pass someone should pay . Might as well be the people that use that pass and not others.

I've been to the pass quite a bit in the last year. I wouldn't mind playing a little to go and fish there. Maybe then, they can put some more lights in and it might cut some people out and leave more fish for me.

The article in the Beaumont Paper stated the association was on month to month status on funding. I believe it stated they had adequate funds to cover the month of June. I also would not mind at all paying a fee to fish. We go a few times a year and it is an easy place to fish with kids. Besides, sometimes we go to the piers and certainly pay a fee at any of the pier locations. I certainly agree with some of the other post that individual responsibility is needed as far as trash goes. Like I said, we don't go but a couple times a year, but it sure is easy to fish with an 8 year old.

The few times I have been it has been embarrassing to see the amount of trash left there. But I guess it is no different from any other place the pubic has access too. The easier the public access the more trash.

Darn shame.

We also only get to visit a couple a times a year. We always carry our rake and try to help clean up some, the people there at the RV park and those from the Northend bait house use to spend several hours every monday morning trying to clean up there sides. We will be down there the first week in June also,And even thou we are renting off the pass this year I hope it remains open till then. I wouldn't have a problem with paying a little for a day pass, But you can bet if that starts it will wind up in some one else's pocket and not even used for the Pass.

I was there the first weekend in April. I thought it was pretty clean. The only issue I had was with the bathrooms. They were dark and dirty. I can handle a little dirty, but I want to be able to see were I am standing in those things. I hope we will not have to start paying to fish there. It has been there since the 50's though. I don't see it closing. I hope not anyway.
