Just thought I would let everyone know that my brother and I stopped off at Fisherman's Supply in Garland off I30 on our way to fish the Wally Marshall tournament and was shorted minnows this morning when we purchased 5 dozen...There appeared to be 2 1/2, maybe 3 in the bag, and that was probably pushing it...I know what 60 minnows would look like, as we get this amount often from other places.... We asked about it and they were fixing the issue and store owner started cussing my brother out in front of other customers, when we were talking to another customer that felt he was shorted as well...The other guy that thought he had been shorted as well, didn't even know we thought we were shorted, we just happened to over hear him at the same time frame..... Thumbs down to doing business with this place as far as I'm concerned...It was our first time ever stopping there, and will never return.... will spend my $$ else where... My 2 cents... Was really irritated this morning and just had to vent! I'm off my soapbox now...

Sorry about your bad experience. Customer service like that will ruin a good day.
A few years ago, a buddy and I stopped at a bait shop on another lake. He went in to buy some live bait. He came back a while later without any bait. The shop was busy and my friend had gotten in line. When it was his turn, the guy at the counter helped another customer instead of my friend. My buddy complained and the clerk got angry and told my friend that his money was no good there and asked him to leave. What a jerk!

Don, I hear ya, seems like customer service is put on the back burner nowadays with so many places....

Hey, I remember I went fishing with you and PapaPeck way back when on Lake Lewisville for sandies and hybrid action... was a fun day.... My ID back then was jtc30 and then changed it since jtc30 wasn't too catchy.. \:\) Tight lines to ya buddy for 08!

I had some issues yesterday as well... Just with attitude... Long after the morning tournament rush. I think I'm done going there as well.

Speak your mind people, they're either in or out of business because of us. I've learned to always voice my opinion to the manager, owner, if as a paying customer I'm not satisfied. And the occasional "good job" to the peeps at the store doesn't hurt once in a while either, if warranted. ;\)

The have had some new help back in the minnow bagging area recently. May have been part of the problem. I bought some there once quite a while back from a new hire and got probably 7 dozen minnows when I paid for 3 doz. so sometimes it goes the other way as well. The owner's primary relief person has been off sick and John's been putting in some 16 hr. days so he might be a little cranky cause of that. No excuse at all for cussing out customers, but just to give a few possible explanations for what might be going on. Sorry to hear of the bad experience and hope it didn't ruin your day. If anyone's planning on going in the evening to get something, it's a good idea to call ahead and be real specific about exactly what time they're going to close - could save some aggrevation. It's still the best place to get bait within many miles.

I had the same experience as Jon but it was last spring. I bought 4 dozen and got at least 8. I do not mind getting a few extra but there can be a problem with over crowding in a bag. I think that the owner but the clamps down on the kids counting minoows because he was tired of loosing his shorts.

That rumor was was well before the current owner took over and had absolutely nothing to do with the former owner either.

Please guys, let's not get off on a tangent that has nothing to do with counting minnows.

i think the other option is to buy you minnows from Habul the camel riding superstar, at the Valero a few doors down. I would rather get what I pay for, and deal with people than support some sponges sucking the life from the good ol USA!!! support the American Owned establishements! I still prefer jigs though \:\)

At Fisherman Supply on april 20th I paid for two dozen small and one dozen large minnows. Once I got on the lake I found that what I ended up with was no more than two dozen small minnows only. I had been at the counter paying while the person in the back got the minnows for me. I assume the person dipping the minnows forgot the third dozen of large minnows by mistake.

It might help if they knew what a dozen was and could count. Since they don't make minnow counters.

i've never been shorted, but i have gotten the attitude. the older lady seems to be in a permanent horrible mood. everyone else is fine.

i went in for shad, as they are the only place i know of around there for fresh shad. i asked for fresh shad, she told me "no shad!", as if i should have known she's already told 50 people that. i made the mistake of asking if ther was any frozen, and she started literally yelling "i told you there's no shad!"

i politely asked her to excuse the f$#@ out of me and left. if i go in ther and she's there, i turn around.
