I have a 21' Kenner and am currently using a single axle McClain trailer without brakes. I want to get a tandem axle with brakes. These new aluminum trailers look real sharp but are they ok for salt? Any issues with stress cracks? Can I use electric brakes like my regular trailer uses? Is there an advantage to torsion axles? (I don't know what they are).

The Techsun trailers look great, but their website is down and I have heard some bad things about their service. I know McClain and Magnum make aluminum trailers too.

Any comments would be helpful - Thanks! KB

McClain makes a very good aluminum trailer. If I was fishing the salt, I would have nothing other than an aluminum trailer. I prefer the electric brakes to the surge type brake. I cannot comment on the torsion axles as I have not owned a trailer with that set up. I have heard McClain service is very good. Living where you do, I would have nothing else. I believe if you call the plant, they will sit down and talk to you and probably give you a tour.

McClain here in Houston makes good ones. Probably your best bet.

An aluminum trailer will be around long after you have gone to your maker! Even in saltwater!
