Had the Family over for fish fry, their was nine of us yesterday and their was a lot of fried crappie to go around. I had a package of YELLOW BASS that I had cleaned for a teste test after reading about yellow bass here on the TFF.
A platter of fried Yellow Bass was pass around the table for trial and the table fair was praised and pronounce GOOD!
The texture was much lighter than white bass, and it tested very much like crappie. There was really no red meat in the fish and there was no fish flavor at all even though the fish had been frozen. The Yellow Bass is a fine flavoried Table Fare and worth the effort. The only down side of the fish is it's size, but it's still larger than blue-gills and there is plenty of them.

They make execellent table fare, they just don't get that big. They can be very fun to catch as well.

And the good news is no size limit and no limit numbers. Very good to eat.

caught about thiry on rayburn two days ago, those things are funny, they were everywhere, hitting everything from whole and cut shad to catfish eggs. cleaned about twenty of them for my own taste test, but i have heard they were good and its good to hear someone confirm that.
