Got mine installed a couple weeks ago and have been playing with it since trying to figure it out. There's a couple of things that I'm a bit concerned about and want to see if they are normal or if I have an issue.
Is it normal to hear the clicks for the pings off the transducer? I hear a faint tick, tick, tick when the transducer pings out. I can hear it slow down when I reduce the ping speed so I know it's from that.
Also, I noticed on the satellite screen that I have 7 or so satellites communicating, but the error factor doesn't seem to get below about 25-26 ft. That seems like a very large error factor. I have a handheld gps that will get inside of 10 ft. if it has enough satellite communication.
Does anyone have any screen shots of what brush piles and trees look like vs. fish? I'm having a heck of a time separating them out. I think I have trees down, but not sure about the rest.
Thanks!

yes, that ticking or clicking coming out of tranducer is normal. Thats how you know its working.
1st where's your gps ant located on your boat. If its less then 3ft from your unit. you will get that much of a error. IT WAS INSTALL WRONG. you need to move your gps ant. 3ft or more away from your unit. also you may only be getting 3D on your gps sat. info. thats about 12ft to 25ft off your target, once you get WASS signal you will get closer then 15ft.

The antennae is installed at the aft end of the boat. It is plenty far away. I made sure of that when I installed it. I may just need to RTFM a bit more to figure out how to switch it from 3D to WAAS signal. Thanks for the info on the ticking. I'm glad it's normal.

you can zoom in all the way and watch your present location. you will see the arrow drift around, which is common in autonomous GPS. this will show the true differences in your position. you can average these locations and come up pretty close to a near exact location.
DGPS/WAAS will 'bounce' around............you still should be closer than 15 meters everytime. good luck

Went out today and made sure WAAS was enabled, but not required. Best I got was about 18' off. I can live with that being the length of the boat.

How do you know it's that far off? Hit the pages button and go left to Satellites I think it is and there is an accuracy field on the top left.

You can also overlay EPE on you map page so that you know the position error when you are trying to get on top of a brushpile.
