Pulled a bunch of cats out of Calaveras last week and some of the filets were yellow in color. Is this normal? I bagged them seperatly to make sure, I knew someone on here could learn me something about them catfish. I thought it might have something to do with spawning or sex of the cat? Anyone know? Thanks

I've seen the edges yellow and figured it was just fat. Not sure what it would be with the whole fillet yellow.

The channels I've cleaned in the past had a yellowish tint to them as well. Didn't hurt the taste at all.

Not all channels will have that yellow tint/coloration in the meat, but some do and it will depend upon what they've been eating. The ones with a whiter flesh will taste different than the ones with the yellow tint to them.

Those that have the yellow tint that I catch, goes in my compost pile or around my planted vegetables in the garden.

Soak them in salt water with a little lemon juice overnight in the fridge. It will bleach the meat. This method works on any fish. Also the fillet will be better if you cut the dark parts out. The yellow tinted part is fine.
