http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/05/02/BABT10F7PE.DTLShocking story on Salmon fishing on the West Coast. It has been completely banned. So if you had plans to go there to fish for some fresh salmon, you can forget it. I cannot believe they weren't regulated more before a complete ban.
I have noticed the fish this year have been smaller and smaller compared to the keepers I caught last year. A lot of the fish being thrown back though die, which is a crying shame. I know there are still big fish out there, but the numbers seem to be declining. Whether it is due to fish die off from being thrown back, poaching, or tournaments...I do not know. When I was a kid in the 60's the fish were plentiful, and much less in limits. Is the problem so many anglers now? I have seen an increase in the amount of people fishing. So what can be done so we don't have to go through this in our waters? More fish stocked? Slot limits on larger fish, and less on smaller fish? What is your opinion on this?
