Anybody here know of good cafes and restaurants in the Atlanta,TX area? I will be at the State Park here in a couple of weeks. We like everything from catfish to fried chicken to barbecue and steaks. A good breakfast recommendation would be nice too.

Thanks in advance.

I grew up there, so let me give you a few:

Dixie Maid - Great Hamburgers ( highly recommend )
J&L Grill - Standard Breakfast items: Omlet, bacon/eggs, etc.
Jack's in Queen City - American type fast food, but better than chains.

If you're willing to drive a little, there's a great fish place in Doddridge Ark, about 30 minutes called Spruell's. Ask anyone in town and they will tell you about it. Other options are head to Texarkana. There's also Big Pines down at Caddo but that's about 1 hr away.

They just opened a new place in Atlanta called the Silver Spur...good food at fair prices with a mean breakfast menu...right on 59.

Atlanta is dry... Bible country! There's a baptist church on every corner!

best place to buy beer/liquor around the state park area is Domino, Texas. It's located about 1/2 way between Atlanta and Texarkana on Hwy 59. If you're traveling on I30, the little town about on the east side of Mt. Vernon is the last stop. Best advise is bring your own. Domino is your place if you need to buy locally.
