Had such a great time last OCT, we're doing it again. We booked again with Capt Lloyd Landry of Outcast Fishing Charters. He takes care of everything, all you need is an appetite and an urge to fish. We caught big reds and lots of them, plenty of trout and flounder. Just wait until you try Rose's " shrimp stuffed red fish ". Lloyd has a brand new 4 bedroom 3 bath lodge, since Katrina destroyed his last one. If you want a good trip and be around a great bunch of people, check out Outcast Fishing Charters.

When are you going? The fishing is really good right now, we've been fishing out of Houma and tearing them up! had over 100 trout by 9:30 am, and we were only able to boat 4 reds. (They kept snapping the line)

Good luck!!

I have fished Venice some when i used to live in La. It's a great place to fish any time of year. It's starting to heat up like everywhere else on the Gulf Coast because the shrimp are making the annual migration and it would be better if the Mississippi wasn't cresting so high right now. One of my best friends fished there this past weekend and they wore the redfish out in minutes w/ limits. He fished with his wife that hardly ever fishes and he said she outfished him. They mainly used GULP Shrimp under a cork against the grasslines and played catch and release for awhile. Also they caught some nice trout chasing the birds in the bays using the GULPS and Assassins. He told me that because the fresh river water was so abundant, the bass were attacking live shrimp while fishing for the reds. He was able to keep a few of those, also.
If you're going to Venice it's always an adventure any time of year.

I got another Venice report from my best friend today. He was letting me know that his cousin caught some nice sized bass again this past weekend while fishing for trout and reds. The bass were devouring live shrimp along with the trout and reds. The Big Muddy is really dumping a lot of fresh water into the area right now. He was letting me know that was a lot of floating debris and logs that were hazardous to boaters if in the main channels of the Mississippi.

Also, on another note, my brother fished west of Venice in Grand Isle, La and did well with the trout this morning using live shrimp and Gulps under a cork. 3 short of a 25 fish limit along with a good red, some sand trout and a couple of flounder. The trout were nice with most in the 15-20 inch range (12 inch slot in La.). He waded Caminada Bay behind our old camp that Katrina took away. Wish I'd have been there to help him out!!

I'm looking at the Mississippi right now, (My office is on the levee and I have a window) and it's still high and flowing fast! Your friend is right, there is ALL kind of debris hauling a$$ down river!
