O.k I saw someone caught 6 fish in five hours and call a good day, and some stay in the lake all day long caught 1 limit and they call a good day. To me 1 limit in 3 hrs is a good day. So how many fish for you to call a good day???

One fish or no fish. 10 fish or 50 fish. As long as I'm fishing with my lovely wife/kids/grandkids or friends it's a good day. I don't count a good day by the # of fish I catch. Only count the quality time spent. Catching fish is just a PLUS. If you judge your day by the # of fish caught then it becomes work not enjoyment (Why I haven't become a guide). I enjoy/love fishing... That's what i'm talkin bout!

A bad day of fishing is always better than a good day at work. Any day on the lake is a good day, fish or not!

It all depends on time of year and weather conditions...though I agree about anytime on the water is a good day. At certain times of the years a keeper an hour is good..other times it means a limit in 4-5 hours

Can't say I disagree with DBman. Just being on the water is enough for me.
However, I usually like to at least try and catch a tourney limit of seven to make me feel like a fisherman but how many are caught a lot of times depends on how well the fish cooperate and the conditions.

Being on the water is good, catching fish is more better. Fishing without catching is suck. haha ya there are days where you have high hopes, get out on the water and then nothing. Those days are probably not on my list of "good days" as far as fish are concerned but I enjoy them nonetheless. I usually just let me getting wore out determine when I call it. The good Lord blessed me with some pretty high stamina for fishing and not having to catch anything. More times than not I go about 4 hours if I'm not catchin 'em and until they quit if I'm knockin their boots off. Everyone is different though my uncle will call it a loss if he don't catch any after an hour and go home lol.

Ain't it funny? Go out for 3 or 4 hrs ,not catch a thing, starve to death in those 4 hrs, get home, wore out, go to bed by 9. Go the next day fish for 8 hrs and catch a limit, fergot you hadn't eat, get to the house and clean fish, watch the 10 o'clock news and half of the tonight show and lay there for the next hour wanting to do it again the next day!

That all sounds nice fishing with the family and all but if that were true we would just go skiing and have a picnic. We all want to catch a lake record crappie .(Dont we DBman) I can usally catch 10hd but now 15 everytime is my goal .But really I like it when they are finiky and you have to tick the cover and just wait and makem bite it gives you a sense of overcomeing the odds.Thats a great high for me.Or when your fishing a bridge piling and you just killem and the boat on the next pillar aint catchin nothing .Its little things like that is why I fish

To me everday fishing almost is a good day. A great day is if your only keeping fish over 12" and still get tired of cleaning fish. That is rule of mine at on Grapevine in summer anything under 12 is throwback. I normally catch much better quality fish on that lake right in the middle of people sking swimming sailing and generally acting wild and sometimes they actually look over at me when I am realing in giant Slab. most of them seem pretty preoccupied about how many nice crappie are in that lake. Fished that lake for past 12 years same spot same time day same time year and always always come home with a load. Can I say it again -wish it was still on the CAT schedule this year. Sorry for getting off subject there. Just got emotional, my wife must be rubbing off on me.

A good day of catching is 1+ for me. I don't catch many XD
A good day of fishing is just being around nature.

I expect 20-30 keepers in a half a day. Anyone that says a bad day on the lake is better than a good day at work has never sunk a boat....

I'm not going to let a fish dictate to me whether I'm having a good day or not. Just being able to go makes it all worthwhile.

A limit would be nice, but I don't worry too much like I used too. What am I gonna do with all the fish? Get tired of cleaning them after while. Gave away more often than not anyway. Can't eat them all.
Wife doesn't like to keep them in the freezer more than a month. She kept giving away my fillets knowing that I fish year round and I only consume fresh catch anyway. Well, I've learn my lesson...I only clean what I would fry; if not, I call a friend to give them away before putting in all the efforts and wife would give away my hard work.
To me a good day is where I can locate and catch them in places most people wouldn't have thought of and when many others who are out on the lake the same time can't buy a bite (or few and far in between). Now that is self gratifying knowing you did something extra and something right.
A good day is when you accidentally found new spots which hold fish (like BP or pockets of drop offs) for next outing.
A good day is when I have a limit @ 27degree weather during the winter months where no one else on the lake but me.
And the best Good Day for me is to be able to fish ALL DAY; Leave the house before sun rise; get home after dark and wife still greets me w/ a smile without a single complaint!!! ha hahahah...

I agree with Mr. Moore. Eventhough any day on the water is nice, there's something about the prize! What's greater then when you can get them to bite when they aren't biting for anyone else. Otherwise, I would rather spend my time at the office to afford my family a few more toys and vacations. I fish for fun, but it's no fun without the fish.

For my Customer I want it to be a very good (really a GREAT) day, i.e. limits for them. What I call "put it down and pull it up". Limits out in a reasonable time (not too fast but also not to slow).
But for just me, I really like it a little harder. I like to think I have something to do with getting that bite. And if it's too good, (just for me) that is not as fun.
No matter how good or bad they happen to be they are fun, but for just me, it really doesn't have to be gang busters to have a really good day.
Also when it's just me (and a few customers I fish with), I Catch and Release all the fish I personally catch (including Crappie). You don't have to keep all the fish you catch (including Crappie) to have a good day on the lake. It's the SPORT of fishing. And the more we leave in the lakes the more we'll have for the next time we go and to spawn again next year.
Catch and release on Crappie might be foreign to you but after you get use to it, it is even more rewarding (than keeeping them). Giving fish to others (becuase you already have more fish than you need to keep), is a waste of our natural resources.
Eat Freash America, and release the rest. (and don't give your fish away. Just release them).

Better late than never so here I am a little late to this thread so....
A good day is when I have fun fishing with my wife, a friend or by my self. I just want something to stretch my string and make it fun. being out on the water is almost enough, but I must admit I love catching too.
The best is taking out the grand kids and seeing them catch a few nice crappie and having loads of fun.
Fishing is just an awesome experience that changes every time out and just being out there seeing what is happening on the water with all that entails is just great stuff!

I to love just being out on the water by my self or with family. A great day for me is having my wife sit in the back of a boat or on the shore laughing at me so hard she is crying while I try something new, getting mad becasue I can't get it down, you know the saying try... try again, try... try again.
Taking my parents out and having the memories and so on, but don't get me wrong, I love to catch fish! But I also want to be a better fisherman! Trust me Ernest, Jerry, and Guy are more than likely sick of hearing from me! But they say to try this or that, and I go and do it and I go out and try to do it like they say! Best example, while waiting for my wife to finish with a test, I went down to the bridge and did nothing but try and shot a jig at different spots. Didn't hit the spots I was aiming for very often, hooked my self alot, but I am beginning to understand how to do it! And believe it or not I actually caught 4 keepers doing it! (a great day) That is what is important to me, if I can figure these different ways out, I WILL catch more than I need! ( I think)...lol

On my home lake I think a good day as 50 to 100 crappie. I had a great day on Monday. 150 crappie and a 9lb bass as a surprise. I kept 25 of the most beautiful crappie and me and my dad had a blast. My dad had to take a nap after fighting all those fish. Steve
