Put in at TCD about 1:30 Saturday with the intention of being at a cove my buddy & I like at sundown. Hit a few spots on the way with nothing to show. We get to the cove about 5:00, and find it empty which is unusual on a Saturday in East Bay. Slicks are popping up off the point where we intend to wade. As we are getting our waders on, another boat drives right over the slicks and anchors at the spot we wanted to wade. NO problem, we get out and walk out past the point into thigh deep water. Picked up 3 nice specs on worms, all in the 20-25" range. Just before dark we go back to the boat for a drink and a sandwich. the other boat pulls anchor and leaves, so we have the cove all to ourselves. Back in the water about 7:00 and its on. Ended up with 15 more specs, all on topwaters. We left them biting about 10:00. Its been a long time since I caught specs like this in Galveston. All good solid trout, didn't even have to measure to see if they were keepers. Water was very clear and cool. When we were idling away from the cove, I turned on the Q beam and we could see bait getting busted all over the place. Great trip, but we didn't home until about 1:00 in the morning and I didn't get anything done Sunday which didn't endear me to the family.

Not looking to bust your spot, but was it on the north shoreline or south shoreline?

Cool, thanks. I am planning a trip down there soon and we fish that area pretty good, but have not caught limits yet. We target Fat rat pass, and Yates bayou mostly. Pick up some good fish near the tubes as well.

Sorry for the late report. Went back to the same spot we caught fish at on the 19th. They were there again, just not as cooperative this time. Managed to get 2 nice ones on the stringer. They wouldn't touch a topwater this time, got 'em on soft plastics. Fish were feeding on glass minnows and I didn't have anything in my wade box that looked like a glass minnow.

Thanks Fastpitch. I'll be down there soon. How has the wind been? I guess good if you fished the south bank.

Well wife and I gonna try this Sunday and see how they are biting. Its been a long long time since been out there. Thanks Saltwaterwillie for the info, got some of the old maps out and bought a new one I remember know where those areas are. Kid and I used to go there a lot about 8 or 9 years ago, gonna take the wife out there she gonna get a taste of wade fishing since we have only been out on the south jetty mostly and camped out at the north end of San Louis Pass, which we never caught much of any thing good. She has gotten real comfy on the boat so time to work for the fish (lmao) but either way a day on the water is better than a day working.

Well got into trouble this weekend so was not able to get out to east bay. Boat trailer had some problem and had to get it fixed. If not we would be with a boat and a big hole next to the keel of the hull. Granted we did get out on the river after fixing the trailer. It was a nice day, I hope someone got to catch some fish.

Well I am probably the luckiest man on this earth. Wife wanted to go fishing for mothersday but I got sick as a dog. She didn't get upset that she only got flowers but got mad cause I got sick and she didn't get to go fishing.
