im looking for a rod to use with topwaters, soft plastics, and the occasional live/dead bait fishing mainly in the bays and flats. im thinking of using a 7ft. medium or medium lite rod. i just need something for all around uses until the next check comes. im thinking of getting an ugly stik lite intercoastal until next time i can stock up. your opinions?

Castaway is my preference, though AllStar makes some good ones as well, I fish a Castaway seven foot medium action and have caught fish from Jack Crevalle(17lb fish on 12 lb line) to school trout, good action and spine while still having a sensitive tip.

I prefer an older Castaway 7 foot "light saltwater" rod with a Calcutta 250 on it. Problem is, that you cant buy the same rod anymore. The ones they sell now seem cheap.

For the money you can't beat an 8ft. TTF Trout Killer II rod!

I personally have learned from my experiences that the rod does not matter nearly as much as the setup.

I would go with the castaway myself. If your budget is low get the cheap 60$ castaway. I've got one for light tackle and it has lasted longer than more $$$$$ ones. It has even handled pretty good sized kingfish and as small as perch

Castaway 7ft medium or light. You can't beat either one!

Falcon Lowrider 7' or 7'6" is what i use with 200 citica dsv. You can find combo's for about $175. Or a little more for a corado. MH action is what i use with 10lb Ande.

I like the H&H HX4. They have a variety of options in that line.
