still good action with the gates off .... sandbass and hybrid still being caught... was out there earliar .. did fairly well on cork and jig ....

I stopped below the dam this morning and there were only 3 cars in the lot. Not usually a good sign. 8 gates are open. I fished for 30min and had a couple of bumps on my 4" Sassy Shad but no fish on. While I was there, no one caught any fish. Yesterday, I fished out by the power plant and really got into the sandies. We walked out to the point and were catching them w/shad and minnows off the bottom and anything else you wanted to chunk and wind. The wind was really our friend.

I'm not really familiar with Lake Lavon. Does 67 cross the lake? Does 67 make up the dam? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Went to Lavon dam saturday 12 noon to 3pm. 5 gates open half foot. People on the peir were catching lots of Sandbass. I only caught 1 crappie.

Lavon Dam is located between Wylie and the city of Lavon off Highway 78. Going North on 78 you will pass through the big city of Wylie. Keep going on 78 past the Super Wal-Mart about another mile and a half. Watch for the sign (it will be on your right) that will point you to go left towards the Dam. Follow that road to the stop sign, take a right and follow the road to the Dam parking lot. Fishing is only allowed on the West side (the side you will be on)of the area/facility. As of last night, there were 5 gates open and a few sandies, hybrids and catfish were being caught. (not by me but I saw them getting pulled in by those with "better" skills...). Get there early as it is a popular spot. Watch for my Gerber Legend. It is in hands other than my own! AARGH!

Sand Bass hitting all you mentioned plus Sassy Shads and spoons. I throw a KastMaster in several sizes but most of the fishermen are using their surf rod/jig under a bobber technique unless they are tight lining with minnows or shad. I've seen jigs from crappie size to 4" Sassy's under the bobber. Go with your confidence bait and you will have fun.
