A friends wife purchased this for whatever reason at a garage sale and is now trying to figure out what it is.  Any help appreciated!

I believe that is a face ripper off'er - I beleive that they are used by the commer slasher / serial murderer!

That is a handle with spikes on the bottom and a fork in the front that was made in Japan.

I think it's part of a Ferrier's arsenal.
I.E: horse-shoing tool
old nail-puller in front, hoof cleaner/hole starter on the bottom

What is that on the base of the handle? Looks like LEFAX? Maybe that will give us a clue. I think it says JAPAN.
