I know that these posts usually don't get much response - but I moved to the McKinney area from Chicago and wanted to see if anyone knew of some decent small spots to wet a line and hopefully catch some bass. I have seen a lot of water in the Stonebridge area, but I assume that isn't public water...

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

for what its worth i've never gotten any grief for parking by the tennis courts and walking around and fishing. people outside always ask how the fishing is, and one guy even gave me a beer and grabbed his rig.

Thanks bass - I will have to try that. You just never know people react to their "private" water..

I caught a nice 2 1/2 to 3 pound bass at town lake just yesterday......thinking about trying the creek that runs into the pond over on the eldorado country club.

The huge pond at the end of Virginia right off of 380 used to be loaded with nice bass until they drained it to put in that stupid fountain.

A lady yelled at me one time saying I wasn't allowed to fish here. I threw her my DRL.

The officers in the area check up on alot of people I could care less since I live in the area but it sure has taken away the freedom of fishing in peace.

Where does Virginia and 380 intersect??? I'm not quite sure that pond you're refering to?

Virginia bends to the south and dumps out at 380 at the new part of stonebridge I believe.

But Virginia is south of 380 so it can't bend south into 380..... I checked mapquest and I'm just not seeing it?

Maybe where Stonebridge Drive meets 380? Haven't been there since the fountain went in, so I don't know. It's on my list, but the list keeps longer.

There's a decent pond at Frisco Horse Park on 121 between Independence and Coit..Caught some decent fish out of there. I think they may make you pay(maybe like $5 or something), I don't really know how they work the deal. Used to teach the summer riding camp up there. Under new management now so I don't really know if that's changed or what. May go out there and have a few drinks with some buddies this afternoon, I'll let y'all know.

Theres a pond north of 380 on lake forest its in the 1st neighborhood to the west side of lake forest. It was very shallow a couple years ago during the drought dont know what normal level is in it.I believe you can see it from one of the streets in the neighborhood. But the Stonebridge ponds are the best in that area. The "something" Haney Park has been the best for me even the big one at Virginia & Stonebridge Dr.

sorry about the confusion its S. Stonebridge and 380. You can always catch bass there but tiny ones compared to the easy 4+ pounders that I used to reel in... And yes they do patrol it. Especially the nazi women with the white poodle hahahahaha

i believe its Winniford Park, heavily fished by little kids, to the point of em being pests, being loud and right next to you.
Best bass out of there was 1#, 5lb bullhead though

I bet he means 75 and 543 on the east side. That guy had a NO TRESPASSING sign up a few months ago out by the road. I have fished it in the past and caught LOTS of nice crappie and bass. Since seeing the sign I stay out. hung
