I am looking at an 03 Chevy Silverado extended cab short bed pickup,
4.8 with a 3:73 rear end. Can someone give me an idea of what kind of gas mileage this truck should get? Also, would it be suitable to pull a boat or small trailer? thanks, George

More than capable of pulling a boat or trailer...It should tow about 6,900 - 7,100 lbs. Depending on if it's a long bed or not (long beds tow less). As far as gas mileage, my buddy gets about 18 on the highway and 14 city...

It will have plenty of power to pull the boat.

That 3.73 axle is a little odd for that motor not that it's a bad thing but most of the 4.8s have the 3.42 so the mileage may be a little less than it would be other wise. Sounds like that one was ordered for towing.
