It's an old carpet strecher, the fork is used to tuck the carpet around the tack strip. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

It sort of looks like something you'd use for climbing an icy cliff (such as a frozen waterfall)or a snow covered mountain, but I would think it would have a better grip for the handle.

I know! I know! It's a Japanese body shaper manufactured in late 1945. It was first designed in Hiroshima and used exclusively there and on the far outskirts of Nagasaki a few days later. It's designer is unknown and is believed to be the only one left in existance. You can go ahead and ship my lure...

Surely you all know this....you hold and suspend a deceased chicken or small turkey for plucking and further preparation prior to cookin'................Could probably use it to do the same thing to gar.

at first i thought horse shoe tool
but it is too curved for that, so i choose a real person shoe tool
for old shoes of course
