Slamafin I apologize if I offended you by my comment about catching a carp on a fly. Since Broken bow is out and not much happening around here yet, thought I would go after carp as some others have posted and were successful. I think carp are a great game fish and I have fished for them lots in the past. Just not on a fly. I would never disrespect any fisherman and if it swims I'l try and catch it. I hope no one else was offended. Terry R

Naw, not I at any rate. I knew what you were saying and wish I could get into some local carp on the fly, screaming drags!

hey guy's,

rob woodruff sent an email out yesterday saying that mountain fork is closed until forther notice because of high water. the water is about to breach the spillway - it doesn't look good for awhile.

NE Texas does not need any more rain. The Sabine is flooding, not over the bridges yet. The spillway at Lake O The Pines is way high. It started to come down, but this latest rain has it up the second highest I have ever seen it. Where I live it is very bad. The creeks are swollen to the breaking point at times. This rain needs to move on to the drought areas. It is either too much, or too little rain. I kinda pray for JUST RIGHT. :-)

Even though the lake level is still high and the flood gates are still open, Beavers Bend is allowing us back on to the trout stream. Water is high and muddy, but some fishermen have been successful.

Gang,

They closed the Spillway Gates this morning. The flow is back down to normal, around 80-90 cfs at the Spillway. They are still running the generators at almost full capacity right now, but the upper river section will rebound quite quickly. The fish are still there, just may be in a few diferent spots than before. People were able to catch fish during the releases so the fish didn't quit eating.

It looks like it is about time to head back up there and get bcak to some trout fishing! I am really itching to go and see what can be scared up!

Good luck and go fishing!
eric

Had an amazng trip up there this weekend, Wed. thru Sat. Probably caught 50-75 fish, most on a gold bead olive woolly bugger, size 8. They all wanted a dead, and I mean DEAD, drift. No motion at all, quartered up stream. Spillway looks quite a bit different, with a lot of the logs having been pushed/broken and moved downstream. Saw one guy (spinning reel) with about a 6 pound 'bow! WOW! My biggest was a 16"+ rainbow. Great weekend.

You didn't happen to see the guy with the 6lb bow down near the bridge right before Zone 2/Lost creek did you? Because I caught one that size and quite a few people were walking around and saw it. I took pictures and released it of course. It took nearly an hour of watching it to resuscitate it as I really had it out of the water way too long. I just had to wait for my buddy to come up stream and get his camera. I'll post pics when I get a chance.
