I'd like to get a group of people headed out to the south jetti next weekend. I know very little about the area so this will be a bit of an expedition for me, but I'd love to try something new. It's always more fun to go with good people and good beer!

I've got an F150 and can carry 5-6 people and all the gear we could need. We'd split gas, should get there and back on ~60$ in my truck...

If not that weekend, maybe in three weeks.

Lemme know guys, I'd love to find someone who knows that area to come...

If someone with a largish boat wants to make the trip, I'd be willing to go in on gas for the pull truck and the boat. I just want to get on some decent redfish/trout or a nice shark...

BTW, if the mods have an issue with this, please say something. Not trying to step on toes or anything...

Aggie...wish I could go....but here a few tips that will save you a little time "trial and erroring" it...Buy your bait at the Galveston Yatch basin..they have good bait generally and you're only a hop and a skip from the south Jetty. Their prices are reasonable. Secondly...if you're going to stay for the weekend and are on a bit of a budget..you could camp ofcourse...but theres a little state park on the bolivar side..Take the ferry across to the bolivar side....When you drive off on the other side you will drive down a mile straight away or so with the bay on your right...as soon as you come to the first light and gas station (also on your right) pull in on the road right before the hotel/station...take that road until it turns back left and then you'll see the park up on the concrete wall....pull into the park and track down one of the grounds keepers in the white truck...Old white dude named Brooks( tell him the Dallas boy's said Howdy)....you can rent those cabanas for 25 dollars a night...that gives you a roof over your head some walls and mosquito screens..also a big metal counter top with a sink and a concrete floor...community bathrooms outside..its not much...but it beats paying 75 a night in some of those run down hotels on the bolivar side. It's kind of neat there at night as well because you can watch the ships coming in and out of port...good breeze...however..do NOT forget mosquito repellant and maybe a tiki torch or two.....

If you stay there you are also less than 1 minute from the North jetty which I discussed on your other post. As a matter of fact you can see it while you're sitting on the front porch of your cabana....Oh the cabanas do NOT have beds...so you'll need cots or air mattresses.

Not this last weekend. MAYBE week after next, but I'm not sure what will happen....I'm headed home for the summer soon.

trying to get in a little post finals stress reliever I guess \:\)

I finish on monday, going to the chicken after my finals. Looking to go fishing some next week. If you feel the urge to fish some fresh in the meantime, let me know.

And by the way, I'm '08 as well.

haha cool. My last final today ends at 5:30, so I'll be heading over there soon after that. Meeting up with some friends who are about to graduate (I'm takin a victory lap...), so you're more than welcome to join if you want. I'll PM you with my cell number.

If y'all are planning the weekend of the 17th I might be interested...

Also if y'all want to try to make a trip in early to mid June I'd be interested and would be able to take my 19' Center Console and put us on some sharks....
