This lake is kinda known for Bass , But even though the wind was up yesterday we were able to catch our limit of crappie right on the cattails ,as far as catfish great on dead shad . Fish right on the outskirts of the cattails 1-2 feet . Just be quick to grab your pole because thell take you right into the mess and you'll never get them out . Hope this helps someone .Going back this weekend pics will follow this time .

Used to alot , but they quit generating out there and the water has cooled down from what it used to be . Now they are hard to find . You used to just pull up to the outlet tie off there and catch them all eving-night along with some good cats . But its a nogo now .

WHat does the water temp there run? They are still stocking there so you would think the population would be ok. I emailed the biologist there and asked if there had been a die off and he said no but I haven't heard much about people catching reds there anymore

Right now it was right at 72 where we were at . There are still alot of people fishing off of the bank along the rocks . That used to be pretty good for drifting for 'em . Really just got bored with them in the last 2 years. Since the crappie have made a heack of a come back . Oh the whites were kicken yesterday too . Lot of fun there .

I still think that has happened more than once . Because there were little to no crappie , that is untill the past 2 years . And the lake got real cold a couple time in the last 2 years .But i dont know if that affects the reds any ?

the more reds that die will lead to better bass, crappie and whatever else fishing, because those reds are eating all the litte crappie and bass.

Thanks for the report, especially on the cats.
I've been meaning to give Tradinghouse a shot soon.
Think I'll give a buddy of mine from Riesel a call, see if he wants to give it a try soon.

Maybe that is why the reds are getting so big at Fairfield--not a big deal--alot of lakes you can catch LMB at only a handful you can catch reds at.

Toontroller and I will be down there tomorrow (Sunday) looking specifically for redfish. We'll file a report when we get back.

I hate to hear about the redfishing not being good. It was kind of nice having the chance to catch something different out there. I guess I'll look on the bright side and enjoy the better fishing for other species.

I wish they would start running the plant again but I dont see that happening.

There is bank fishing space around the area of the ramp. There is also 2 places on the lake where there is a long area of rocks that you can fish off of. One is next to the power plant and the other is on the other side of the lake. I have had good success in the past on catfish and crappie on the rocks.

Other bank fishing spots are available all along the south side of the lake with several good areas to possibly catch redfish inthe past.
