More of the same, the sandbass are holding shallow at points. Started at Twin trees in 12'-15' with a mini-boat show, including a jetski fishing, and caught a few keepers. Noticed one feller was catching fish on every drop of his jig, but most appeared to be undersized (we'll get back to him later). So I headed over the Hackberry point.

Found active, willing sandies & some (small) hybrids on a hump there about 16'-18'. Fast & furious action till I had most of a limit and the fish just stopped. Tried moving in closer to shore & casting various lures into really shallow water for hybrids, but they either weren't there or they weren't interested.

Went back over to twin trees & the same guy from the forum was there, and now I can't remember his name ... it'll come to me a minute after I post this ... gggrr .. (you know who you are - help my ailing memory!) Anyways, I anchored up close so we could chat as we fished. Caught a load of dinks and a few more keepers (which finished out my limit) and talked for awhile. Then the wind shifted & stopped. This had the effect of pushing his boat off the spot he was on & my boat onto it ... so now I am officially a potlicker!!

Well, after a bit the birds started up in the channel & the boat show was in full swing. Everything seemed to work - tailspinners, rattletraps, etc. I pulled out the hellpet & trolled the edges for a bit as well ... caught some fish on everything I tried. The irony was that the fish I was catching at the end were much larger than some of the 10"-11" fish I already had in the cooler ... but it was too late to cull, as those were already dead ... lesson here is put a few smaller ones in the livewell just in case.

I won't say I had 100 fish today, but it was over 70. Awesome day & I hope tomorrow will be as good.

Ok, round 2 ... went back out about 6pm and fished very very shallow water with a silver/black rattletrap. Result was 8 BIG sandbass and a hybrid about 7#.

NOW I'm happy!!

Water was great today.

No birds on our end but the sandies were EZ to find.

Total found 3 hybrids and a bunch of sandbass and 1 LMB.

All of ours wee 15 feet in 23 feet of water then as dusk they were tearing up my Yozuri Topwater and Buzzbait

i got on the water tuesday about daylight. i started fishing for largemouths shallow but the sandies wouldn't leave my top water alone. i fished all over the lake. i found the fish most places i stopped, but all the fish were dinks. LEWISVILLE SUCKS THIS YEAR!!

Now I remember the name of the guy I met - newcastle. Always good to put people & boats to the names on here.

Well, just talked with Boston Bob & we're each headed back to Lewisville again ... today I'm interested in hybrids!

Anyone that can get out for a "Round Two" has either got the best job in the world (or better yet, the best wife in the world)or no job! Congrats or condolences, whichever fits!

Hey Zeek/potlicker! It was great meeting you. I finally met a fisherman that talks more than I do. I was looking forward to chasing the birds with you but I had to go. I am sure that I will see you out there again. I am hoping for Friday, the weather looks good.

Ok, I have never fished LL by boat. Do you want the wind to be parallel to the bank of the point or perpendicular? I have to anchor either way, trolling motor died on me.

Planning on trying for some whites and kitties on saturday or sunday.
