Does a jig bite fill like a worm bite ( BUMP BUMP ) or does it have a diffrent fell to it? Can someone help me with this. I don't fish jigs that much because I don't have much confidense in them it's my worst weakness.

Depends just like it does with a worm. Sometimes they tap it. Sometimes it's one solid thunk. Sometimes it's mushy. Sometimes your line swims off. Sometimes you just notice your line quit sinking (pitching).

If you are a strong worm fisherman, you can easily learn the jig and pick up the subtleties. #1 thing is don't be afraid to throw it and gain confidence in it.

seems like to me if you feel the fish hit its just one big bump and you better set the hook quick they dont usually hang on to a jig as long as they do plastics..also I watch my line a whole lot to see if it jumps .. but anytime I feel something different that im not sure about I set the hook...so basically when in doubt set the hook if your just starting to fish it..

What if you are surrounded by jigs - all looking at you - taunting you - making fun of your rod?

Boy, ya know that's key too. The more I've fished a jig the more I've caught fish that way. Very often you'll see just the slightest of ripples coming off your line. Those are the subtle bites. SET the Hook!

So often though I'll catch a bass on a jig and couldn't honestly tell ya how or why I knew there was a fish, there just was. You'll just develop a sense. Course on an average fishing day I'll flip or pitch a jig at minimum 50% of my day. If I can't flip or pitch one, I'll throw one out where I'd throw a C-rig and drag it or hop it.

it can be anything from a solid thunk that a 5 year old couldnt miss to a soft tap that you wouldnt be able to feel with the most sensitive rod ever.
if your flippin and pitchin jigs you really need to be a line watcher just as you would with a senko. probably 70 percent of my jig bites i dont feel but instead see my line move off or stop falling.
if it feels funny..... set the hook!
if your line does somthing that looks funny..... set the hook!
i caught my biggest bass ever on a jig and i could of swore that it wasnt a fish before i set the hook.

Watching your line is key. Yesterday I was pitching a jig and not paying much attention. I never felt a thing just saw my line swim off a couple of feet to the left. I set the hook and a couple of seconds later had a fish in the boat.

I've always been a line watching stren clear blue mono type guy. But with braided lines now that I'm older and I have a hard time seeing the green braided line and I think the fish can see all the other yellow, white, red braids - I want to know what is the best braid to use on a jig that has the best visibility above the water. Been trying different lines but it gets expensive.

most of my worm and jig bites i don't really feel a bite.my line moves or it dosen't sink right.sometimes i not sure why i set the hook.i just know.i think alot of the bites you might feel is the fish blowing it out of it's mouth....rick

RE: yankee: I dont use it very often but it is very visible and thats fireline. if you need a strong abrasion resistant line thats easy to see the downfall is fireline has memory. I also, use spider wire 65# braid and it seems very visible above the water. the smaller diameter braids do become difficult to see. I figure if 30# spider wire doesnt scare the fish then 65# wont either?

I started using jigs this year and they are my "confidence" bait.
