i used braid for the first time this weekend - used it on a spinning reel with a 7ft Med action rod. was throwing weightless worms.

i really like the braid and will try it next on some of my baitcasters.

i had a heck of a time joining the momo backing with the braid and tieing the hook to the braid since i normally use a cinch not with mono and floro. i read somewhere that you shouldn't use that knot with braid so i use the palomar - that one wasn't too bad but the knot to join the mono and braid was a pain since i have never tied it before and the mono just doesn't cooperate like braid does. you need some extra hands the work with to loose ends. anyway - i used an allbright know to join them - is that the appropriate knot to join mono to braid?

thanks,

It just takes practice and a little extra dexterity to tie the cinch knot. Unless you will be getting down into the mono backing when tussling with a fish, the allbright knot should be fine. However, if you are going to use a fluro leader the cinch knot is a winner with braid to fluro.

Watch this video. It tests knots to lures and leaders to braid on a head to head competition.

Terminal Tackle - palomar with the improved cinch right on its tail. I use the improved cinch knot
leader - uni to uni knot
