The ones I got were 1/124th oz. or 1/80th, now I can't remember. But they had plated gold or brass colored heads. I agree, it ought not to really matter.

They come with lead, silver, and gold heads (silver and gold slightly more expensive). 1/124th oz is the size recommended in the Cap Spiders video. Mike says the 1/80 oz are a bit too heavy and sink too fast to give the rubber legs the proper action. Mike also ties his rubber legs in on the same side of the hook as the hook eye, while Robin tied his in on the back.

OK, I can't resist. "I'm bad. You don't want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner. A rebel."

This is radically off topic but who knows what movie that's from?

Mountain River Fly Shop offers Jig Heads in a variety of colors including Matallic Mountain River
They offer free shipping over 50.00 and have a large shop with a great variety of products and no tax and really great people.

Robin, I think the legs on the bottom will tip the fly down at a greater tilt and it will not glide like it does with them on top, Mike tied them the way he did for a reason after years of trials.
Steve

P.S. When in Barlow's always ask for more or go by the catlog, I was in there on Monday and he went to the back and got some 1/124 lead heads for me as none on the shelf, I color them with fpolish, as I am currently experimenting with Fox Stalers ideas on Fishin' What They See fox

That makes sense Steve. I was being a lazy boy (rebel sounds cooler) Its harder to tie around that 90º bend.

Deer or elk tied to small dry fly hook with bright, thicker thread. (maybe a bit thicker than you'd intuitively select?)

I think thinner thread makes for a little neater fly but I suspect the fish don't care wink .. Good idea but I would flip the hair to cover the barb and make it run hook-up and weedless and maybe a little bigger hook..

That weedless tip will work well. I don't plan on fishing it for anything other than creek bluegills but still, that is a part of what lunchtime challenge is about, sharing ideas.

Robin, I love the fly. Let me know what all you catch on it now!
