Take A Kid Fishing
This year marks the 30th Annual Center Broadcasting Company (KQBB, KDET, KQSI) “Take A Kid Fishing “ bream tournament. The tournament will be Saturday May 10th at Huxley Bay Marina on Toledo Bend Reservoir. The tournament is co-sponsored by the Shelby County Bass Anglers.
Entry is free and the tournament is open to children from three to fifteen years of age. Entrants will be divided into three age divisions. Ages three to five, six to 10 and 11 to 15. Trophies will be awarded in each age division for the heaviest single bream by weight, the heaviest string of five fish by weight (which can include the heaviest single bream entry), and the smallest bream by length. The largest tournament fish by weight will be mounted at no cost by Robison Taxidermy. In addition to trophies for the winners, prizes will be given to all children who pre-register and attend the tournament.
Fishing begins at 6 a.m. with early weigh-in beginning at 10 a.m. and a cut off of noon at Huxley Bay. All contestants must be in the weigh-in line before 12:30 p.m. Participants must be pre-registered this year.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian, must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device while boating, and must abide by all rules and regulations of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and of this tournament. Tournament rules will be included with the entry form.
Entry forms are available at the Center Broadcasting studios at 307 San Augustine Street in Center, Huxley Bay Marina & Restaurant, Harvey’s Landing, Scarber’s Grocery and at Shelby Savings Bank in San Augustine.
