Directions to Lake Fork

240 Rains County Road 3450
Emory, TX 75440

• Go east on Hwy 30 until you enter the city of Greenville.
• Exit Hwy 69 and turn right/south.
• Drive into downtown Emory.
• Turn left on 515. NOTE: There will be a Brookshires grocery store on your left. This is the intersection where you turn left on 515.
• Travel 7 – 10 miles and turn left on 2946. NOTE: There will be a small Country Bank on your left.
• Travel 5 – 7 miles and turn left on RCR 3450. NOTE: There will be a sign with the letters “LSCB” on the main road showing where to turn.
• Drive down the dirt road and you have arrived!

DETAILS
* The swims are first come first serve. Only 2 swims have been spoken for. One of these is the neighbors boathouse. This is where Chris will be fishing because he will have plenty of room for his wheelchair. There is also room for 2 others to fish on this boathouse. One of these people needs to be willing to help out Chris with whatever help he may need.

The second swim that is spoken for is one that no one has ever fished before. I have shown this swim to many people before but only one has expressed interest in wanting to fish it so Jase will be setting up on the swim that is on the horse ranch property shoreline.

* If there is anyone crazy enough to give it a try, I will be willing to boat people out to Oil Well Island to fish from.

* There is never any way to know exactly how many people are going to show up to one of these so I am asking everyone to be generous if needed. If the swims become congested, which they never really have before but if they do, please use 2 rods rather than 3.

* Bring plenty of keep sacks so that we can take pictures during the daylight.

* Think about what you are wearing. If you wear bright colors than a picture with a specimen carp will not look very good. Earth tones make for really good pictures with orange and gold colored carp.

* Bring snake bite and first-aid kits just in case. You can get both in the camping sections of Wal-Mart for a few bucks.

* I would recommend gaiters or boots rather than sandals but thats just me. After seeing several snakes on Lady Bird the last few days I am sure they are out on Fork as well.

* If your swim has ants I would recommend getting a small bag of an ant killer with Spinosad. Spinosad type ant killers can be purchased at most Home Depots or Lowes. With Spinosad we do not have to worry about water contamination. PLEASE DO NOT bring poison ant killers as they will run off into the lake.

* There will be a port a potty on location.

* The Rainswood Marina restaurant in only a couple of miles away and they have awesome hamburgers and breakfasts.

* I am sure that at some point we will do another catfish fry.

* There is a shower in my parents cabin for the ladies to use.

Showers are for sissys. Ok, not really, but they make it way more appealing for the wives that are going along.

Wish I could make it. I will be there in May, for sure.

Just a tip for controlling the ants....

Make a solution of vinegar water (I do 90% vinegar, and 10% water) and it works like a charm!

Spray on the mat, as well as around the mat.

Why such a small amount of water?

I'm sure it has been said plenty...but
Your generosity is remarkable Jason, and of course not to forget your parents, and neighbors....
I wish I could make it, perhaps the next one. ;\)

Tight lines & wet nets to all.

Guys, you should really stop saying that Jason is so nice. It's always the nice ones that turn out to be the serial killers.

I'm on to you, Jason...

Funny you should say that.

I think I may have posted this once before but I actually was profiled as such when I was a kid. My parents never told me about it until I was an adult and it explained a lot about how they treated me growing up. lmao

When I was 11 years old my dad took me in for an IQ test. When compared to my personality test "they" determined that I may very well turn out to be a serial killer when I became older.

I swear I'm not making this up.

The wife and I would be more than willing to assist chris at the other boathouse. she will not be carp fishing so she won't be taking up any extra bankspace.

Absolutely Mark, we need to get back to Palestine and redeem ourselves....I have some different swims in mind.
We just picked a really bad area last time, especially for that time of the year.

Jase, so you're gonna be all the way over there, totally isolated from everyone, and totally clear of all the jack@ssery?

...Where's the fun in that? Hehe.

You need to come hang out with us, so when you get a run, we can all watch you jump the barbed wire and run through all the thorns, brush, and rocks...in the dark. While you're drunk.
