Well I been fishing my buddy's pond lately and he has an infestation of bullfrogs and some nice bass! Anyway I was watching these bass rush up to the bank and smashing these frogs and decided to try a Zoom Brush Hog tossed onto the bank and then popped into the water. True enough it worked and I caught about 12 LMB. They run up and smash it as soon as it hit the water near the bank.

I was having so much fun when on one cast, as soon as the lure hit the bank, this huge bull frog jumped up and grabbed it before I could pop it into the water. So I set the hook and hauled him in. Must say this is my first bullfrog on plastics. I was grinning so much I forgot to take a pic.

So anyway, anyone know the best way to catch these critters? I'm visualizing frog legs sauteed in ginger, green onions and garlic.

or put a small hook into a whole nightcrawler and you can actually fish for the froggies like my buddy Brandon does.

Went last nite with a flash light and armed with my 14 ft crappie pole and a red clouser minnow. Fun! Managed 3 good ones before the mosquitos got too bad. What a hoot! It was my first time and it was quite enjoyable. Let them all go. I like this way better as you can release them unharmed. I'll wait another month when they're much bigger and I might keep a few for the pan.

Funny post. Me and sinko24 were at his pond and I was throwing a bull ribbit. I noticed something kept moving around in the grass. I figured out it was a frog. Sinko24 threw a jig in front of it and it ate it. We got a pic of this one. Its on his cell phone. I'll see if he can get it loaded on here. First frog I ever seen caught on a lure.

How about a cast net.

This is one time the fly fisher may have it best....a long fly rod and some small insect imitations are irrestible when dangled in front of a big bull frog!!! They fight better on a fly rod, also.

Its interesting to me that you are finding the frogs in a LMB pond....the only pond I have with Bull Frogs is one that does not have any LMB in it....they love frogs!!

i catch them on buzz frogs ,horny toads,etc. i was also freaked,i must of spent half the day throwing at them.i never set the hook they just hold on.

I use to catch them when I was a kid by dangling a mepps spinner in front of them. I use to call them stupid frogs when i was a kid. The trick was to get the frog to stay still long enough for you to dangle it in front of him.

Bowie High pond I have caught 3 on top water lures they put up a pretty good fight...

skin hooked plastic worm, they will eat anything that comes within 6 inches of there mouth.

caught one on a pumkin seed plastic worm with firetail last year. big sumbiatch

It's fun to catch them at ponds in the summer when there is some moss growth around the edges....just toss a plastic worm on top of the grass mats and drag it across. Those frogs will inhale a soft plastic.

Those bull frogs? lol, i tried to catch them with my hands when we were there....all i got was a second pair of stanky water soaked shoes...but i caught one bass:) my mum still hasn't cooked all the fish from that trip yet.

Use a long fly rod and dangle a hook with a small piece of ribbon in front of them. Hang on.

I have caught a ton of them it is a blast the best thing that I have found is just a plastic worm with the hook just barley exposed and they will nail it about 98% of the time! I bet I have caught a few hundred of them that way in the past 2 years! lol
