I've only used feathers or plastic. Has anyone had
any success using bucktail ?

If you are ordering some instead of trying to use what you already have on hand, I'd say forget the bucktail and get kip (calves) tail.

Kip tail isn't as rough and stiff as bucktail. I think it makes a better jig.
