Do you have boat or will you be bank fishing?

bank fishing for now..I went a little past the horseshoe this morning and we caught about 15 crappie with live bait and a couple with a jig, most were small but I caught one that was about 12in. I used a few different lures to try and catch a bass..but no luck.

You might want to try the Concho north of O.C. Fisher if your bank fishing.
Nut- yeah this place is over run with attorneys now. I can think of a bunch of lawyer jokes but one thing for sure there is no shortage!

Is that where you turn off US 87 to FM 2288? Yes it is. Then you might want to try east of town on the Concho. Take the Paint Rock Road east and you will cross the river before you get to Veribest. You can keep on going to Paint Rock, turn left at the court house. You will cross the Concho again you will come to RM 1929. Turn Rt. and you be at O. H. Ivie. Coony - J_O_F won't sell his boat unless Twin Buttes drys totally up.

I fish for bass primarily, but there is good fishing for Crappie, Catfish and whitebass.
You might want to try up the Spring Creek and Middle concho areas on Nasworthy. Easy access and not a long drive. Not sure what/if they catch, but see lots of bank fishermen around the old and newer ramps at Twin Buttes depending on the wind. Might also try each end of equalization channel usually some flow so may be good.

Another spot would be up around Gardners Dam on the South Pool. You should be able to follow the road all the way up there.

The South Pool is connected to Twin Buttes via the equalization channel. The best way to get there is to go south on Knickerbocker to just past the SAPD training facility. Turn right at the iron gate.

To get to Gardner Dam it is probably better to go out Knickerbocker Rd past airport, over the dam, turn left, follow the dirt roads around west side of the lake. If you use Google Earth, be sure and turn on "ROADS" in the Layers. That will show you the road that wanders back that way. It is mostly dirt. Pavement ends at the ramp on the equalization channel but dirt road continues.
I am not sure, but don't think you can get back to Gardner Dam area from the other side of the lake. And I make no guarantees on either since it has been 20+ years since I went back to Gardners Dam in a car or boat. Just wish the lake would get about 5-10' more water so we could fish the South pool.

J_O_F's right, the only way to get to Gardners Dam is the way he described. It's been a couple of years since I was back that way and the roads had some canyon sized ruts. As a matter of fact, that was the last time I had a one-on-one meeting with our lady game warden. Nothing illegal just checking license's.
