Last year about this time the cats were hard and heavy in the large
stone ripp rapp.. Just wandering if its time yet. Has anyone had a chance to check this out yet this year. Last year if you had the right place and the right place you just couldnt go wrong. we limmited out everytime. But I think th water temp has to be at least 65 degrees.

I got the chance to get out there on Sunday. the catfish have not moved far up in tha shllows yet but the are no far from there. I think they are in the staging are out awy from the banks in about 10-15 ft. Allso I have been sold on the idea that fresh shad vs prcaught or even frozen make a world o f a difference. I went out thursday to scout it out for my buddy me on sunday. I got to fishin around 9AM. Before setting up the rodds I had brought my throgh net to check out what everyone has said about the difference being soo much better with fresh caugt shad. I have never been very keen on catching shad so i had my doubts. I ende up catching about eith which tikled me todeath. I dave been hearing the way to do this is to cut off thier head and hook them through the eyes. Well put it this way I couldnt keep up as soon as I got the next pole baited and set up one of the other ones were goin off, i startedwith three and finally just said one will be all i can handle. Any way the point of the story is that sunday when my buddy an I whent out the we could only catch one funkky a*% shad. After exostive efforts we just said lets just ry the rocks since I did catch two right up in the rocks on just thursdar, so I know they are not far from being in the pretty thick. We rigged three poles with the fresh shad one with the head and two with filletes.. With in five minutes all three went off wth serious action. I NEEED HELP CATCHING SHAD. please anything will be greatly appreciated.

Well the lake my party and I went to the channels were in the rocks. The bite was slow but we did manage 95 nice channels ranging between 1.5lbs - 4lbs. We fished from 7:30 am - 1:30 pm. The action should pickup as this week we will stay in the low 60's at night. Good Luck. By the way a few had egg sacs in them but the still look like there a ways away from the spawn.

What kind of rigs are best for the rip rap? I have some great rigs and leaders for fishing clay, mud, channels, and even grass and brush, but I lose all my tackle in the rocks. I did drift a shad today with just a hook and a cork over the rocks, but the wind was killing me.

Put a small weight on there just to get the bait in the zone. I hope its not windy tomorrow but if it is I will just launch on the other side and fish some other rocks!!!
