30 years ago, when it was legal to do so, folks who boat fished around there would keep a few in the livewell and stop by the pond to stock it. I remember every day after school walking a mile or so and catching 6-8 pound bass and all the crappie you could eat from that pond. Sad in my opinion it is not the same today.

Chisolm Park used to be the place to catch big black crappie right at two pounds. I remember growing up as a kid, fishing every weekend and just limiting out on big and small crappie. Boy, that was 20 yrs. ago. Man, those sure were the days.

I have never had much luck in that pond except for Trout. Seems like it's real shallow. Anyone know the depth of it?

I was told last year that in the middle of it that is was around 15 ft. deep. This was from one of the park officials that comes around and keep tabs on where everyone was from for the park survey. He also told me that they stock it every 2 weeks with 500 catfish. I got there during the week when I have the urge to fry me up a quick batch of catfish for dinner.

I use worms and Sonny's dip bait. Both work pretty good. Recently tried the secret 7 but not much luck with it yet. I just need to give it more of a chance I think. I am prety fond of the Sonny's dip bait as I have caught severl hundred cats with it. Both blues and catfish.

Does anyone know what time they release the catfish today? I drove by during lunch and found a BUNCH of people out there but not anyone catching any.
