30 years ago, when it was legal to do so, folks who boat fished around there would keep a few in the livewell and stop by the pond to stock it. I remember every day after school walking a mile or so and catching 6-8 pound bass and all the crappie you could eat from that pond. Sad in my opinion it is not the same today.

Chisolm Park used to be the place to catch big black crappie right at two pounds. I remember growing up as a kid, fishing every weekend and just limiting out on big and small crappie. Boy, that was 20 yrs. ago. Man, those sure were the days.

I have never had much luck in that pond except for Trout. Seems like it's real shallow. Anyone know the depth of it?

I was told last year that in the middle of it that is was around 15 ft. deep. This was from one of the park officials that comes around and keep tabs on where everyone was from for the park survey. He also told me that they stock it every 2 weeks with 500 catfish. I got there during the week when I have the urge to fry me up a quick batch of catfish for dinner.

I use worms and Sonny's dip bait. Both work pretty good. Recently tried the secret 7 but not much luck with it yet. I just need to give it more of a chance I think. I am prety fond of the Sonny's dip bait as I have caught severl hundred cats with it. Both blues and catfish.

yes i know. I discussed that with them as well. then they asked if I would be interested in maybe taking over fishing events there. I told them sure, but that the first thing they needed to do was keep the public in formed. It says for 8 to noon and the derby is actually from 7 30 till noon then they said there would not be food, then there would now they say bring a lunch. So as of 3 o clock which i found out was the cut off for the registration. there willbe no lunch served. and it starts at 7 30. and there will be prizes for first fish, biggest fish, and some other catergories. Sorry, i feel like i am so long winded. hope to see ya out there. Will have on my longhorn hat bacards glasses and a sleveless drk blue softball shirt with a orange D on the front and a 29 on the back.
hope to see ya'll out there.

I fished yesterday and got skunked,I think most of the catfish have been taken and I will have to wait till the next stocking.Out of about fifteen people fishing I saw one catfish caught.Does anybody know when the next stocking is,I thought I saw somewhere that it would be this thursday but I got several different opinions while fishing

I use worms and Sonny's dip bait and now trying the secret 7 dip bait when i go there. DK never did me much good. Sonny's has a reg. and a blood dip bait and at times one will work better than the other one will.

I went out there for a couple of hrs. Sun. Seen 3 caught was all. Bites were slow and far inbetween. Used worms, secret 7, sonny'd dip bait, DK, and some ghost minnows.

Last year there were several occasions where people were taking HUGE quantities of fish. One group of 4 had like a 100qt cooler they were throwing them in. Each stocking would last maybe 3-4 days due to people doing this.

When they left it was a workout for 2 guys to carry it. And not only did they take WAY more than their fair share, if I were a bettin man I would've bet my left *** they didn't have fishing licenses.

These are the yahoos than ruin good public fishing fun for the rest. bang

Oddly enough I did talk to a guy last year out there who went fishing without a license cuz he didn't want to buy one in June and got caught. The fine was $300 and he said the TP&W fined him their own fine of $100 for 5 years. So when he gets done that'll be a hefty little $800 mistake!

I fished there regularly when they first started stocking this year and the catfish seemed to last till the next stocking. But now just a few days after stocking your catch rate goes downhill quickly. madI think fishNfanatic is right,I heard stories from other fisherman about people taking way over their limit out of there.I had someone tell me about a man that had his daughter at the kid fish tournament and took home about 30 fish whip

Went this morning for a couple hours. Fished with shrimp and hotdogs. Nothing but yellow bellies....so many I could only fish with ONE pole! bang

Lots of action but no channels. I have never had a problem with yellow bellies there in the past.

I fished yesterday midday and caught several channel cats. 1/2 dozen were short and 2 were OK enough to keep. I didn't see any trucks come to stock the place and I only saw 1 other angler catch a catfish so I'm not sure if it was stocked (atleast from 10 am - 4 pm). Anybody know what time they stock?
