Not that I've ever had a reason to go anywhere else but the cajun, but my wife and I are headed down there for a few days in the first week of May. Where else would you eat on the island in Port A?

The Island Cafe is where we had breakfast every morning, they have nice thick bacon. We had dinner there one night and the special was fried flounder it was very good the other guys had chicken fried steak. There was another place we tried, can't remember the name but I think its near Cotter and Cutoff rd. We all had chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed tators, it was the best thing next to Grannys. This place over looks the water, hope this helps, by the way where is Cajuns?

Ah, The Crazy Cajun I love it. A steaming bowl of cajun spiced potatos, corn, shrimp, crawfish, crab, and a bunch of other stuff dopped out on the table in front of you. It's all I need, and I could eat it every day for the rest of my life, but my wife wants some variety. Thanks for the reply! Kube

Echo the Island Cafe....but it used to be better at the old location (yeah, I know there's been more than one). Cajun's pretty good. Nice Boil there. There's a nice place in the marina (I think Virginia's is the name) that is pretty nice, too. Also, last summer, there was a place across from the grocery store (one of the old island cafe locations, by the way) that had good breakfast burritos "made to order".
Of course, after a long day on the water, how could you resist the "Texas Stop Sign"?

I was down in Port A a few years ago. We ended up at Moby Dick's a couple of times. The food was good and not to over priced. It is right next to Winton's Candies on Alister. Of course, a trip to the candy store for fudge is a must. One of my favorite eateries was the Big Fisherman. It wasn't on the island but between Aransas Pass and Rockport on Hwy 188. I don't recall the exact driving time but it was worth the trip. The price was right for the amount of food we got. I think we ended up at the Venectian one night (I don't know if it is still there) but I wasn't all that impressed with the food. We ate breakfast and lunch either in our room or on the beach (sandwiches for lunch) and then ate out at night. After supper, we went to the docks and fished for several hours.

Try the Beach & Station Street Restaurant. It's a small place, but the breakfast is great and the gumbo is some of the best I've ever had. Low prices too. Normally get breakfast tacos at the Mexican Restaurant on Cut-off road. They also have a pretty good menu and great prices. Echo again on the Island Cafe.
Between Port A and rockport is a place called Captain Billy's Wife's Place. Great food there too!!

The Big Fisherman I will second that, they used to have "all you can eat" fried flounder a few years back. That would be our main stop while we were down fishing in the Rockport/Port A/Aransas Pass area. Still has some pretty good food! Capt. Billy's Wife's Place was pretty good too, haven't been there in a few years though. There is also The Boiling Pot in Rockport (or used to be), can't beat that place either!

One night we went to Hooks in Port A and ordered the "insane wings" On the discription it says 'these wings are not meant to be eaten, they are for us to laugh at you while you attempt to eat them." so we all decided to order a batch. There were 6 of us and the basket comes with 10. At first it wasnt too bad, then 30 seconds later i couldnt even breathe. I made the biggest mistake of my life and I wiped my eyes with my fingers. I went blind for an hour and a half. It hurt so bad and I couldnt even go to the bathroom to wash them off because I couldnt see. Even with 6 of us we didnt have the cajones to finish them

Fins and Moby Dicks are usually pretty good. The wings at Hooks are really not that hot , but then again I regularly eat Habanero peppers

There is a Mexican food place when you go right at the first light when you get off the ferry boat. It's down the block on the right side. The food is good and not priced high.
