The volume of folks still talking about Lavon and the number of people I see still fishing there says a lot. Elbow to elbow at the 78 bridge, on the tressel, downstream, upstream, folks in waders, folks in tubes, a kayak and no place to park on the dirt road beside the highway.

How in the hell do u guys catching these Hybrids at lavon dam? How do u guys Limit on hyrbids in an a couple hour at the dam bank fishing? I cant seem to catch any, help a brother out. I only catch them at the creek while their trying to spawn and it takes me 8 HOURS to catch 4. Catching them at the creek is kinda cheating too.

Barlows should have them but if you dont wanna drive, you can use an empty water bottle (smaller, rounded one) and fill it up to desired amt of water/weight. That works too, I caught mackerels and specks on the pier that way hehe. You can spray paint to make it more visible.

Dude all these fish are being caught on jigs, sassy shad, and other plastic baits. If you can get your hands on some live perch, you can catch hybrids with them too.

How do you rig a live perch up as bait for catching hybrid?

im getting a bucket full of live perach from my freinds private pond tommorrow!

Get a surf rod, tie a float to your main line, tie a 4 foot leader to your float, tie a hook (big enough to hold the perch) to other end of your leader line. Cast as far you can without losing your perch. Just watch for your float to go under. Set your hook as hard as you possibly can. Watch your drags take off and smoke coming out of it.

FYI, this is BEST if the all gates are closed

Tuesday's morning report,
Got to 78 bridge at 6:30. I was the only one there on the East side. Four gates were open so the water was swift. Caught 1 sandbass and one 17 inch hybrid. Decided to move to the dam.
Got there and four gates were open, but they closed one and slowed another, so that left one-and-a-half gates open. Wind was cool and there were light gusts.
Very few people...less fish. Bottom fishers kinda had the area in front of the pier sewn up with criss-crossed lines. Saw a few crappie and one fella got a sandie here and there. Got tired, left.

Best part was I met ChickenWilly and BassPro JD. Nice talkin to you fellas! Look forward to sharing a bank with ya sometime.
