I have two ambassador 5000 reels that I have used for years. They have both caught their fair share of fish. Lately, I have had a problem with the line guide hanging up on one side of the reel. If you dont watch it, you'll have a really uneven spool of line. Somethin tells me this is an easy fix but I can't figure the damn thing out. I'd hate to get rid of these reels. Please help

It is either the pawl or worm gear (or both) worn out. You can get replacements at Academy or a reel repair shop can repair easily.

yeah, it's a cheap fix...can't remember if the repair kits at Academy come with instructions, but it should be fairly easy reguardless if you get the schematics.

not an Abu, but I've replaced all the drag washers on my old shimano's using the kits academy sells, and I knew nothing of working on reels before.
