I'm learning the area. I have a Majek Redfish Line and can go shallow, but I seem to have trouble heading out of Goose Island towards the ICW and the back lakes. I usually head out between the posts, then weave around visible islands and reefs, but almost always encounter reefs that block the way. Is there a better way out of there to avoid the reefs? Thanks.

There are 2 marker poles that will mark the gut into the ICW.
GPS this spot and hit it on plane, as it is 2-3" at normal tide.
It's at the front of Dunham Bay where the ICW starts to narrow down.

Fish Inspector,

How about getting from the Goose Island ramp into aransas bay? I know the channel is marked from the ramp out towards St.Charles.....is there a certain place I need to navigate to make it into Aransas Bay? Is it marked? All the charts I've seen show that place is extremely shallow....

Diablo,

Run the marker poles in ST. Charles Bay. There will be a Stop sign when the poles end where it gets to shallow (less than 1') to run. Hang a hard right there about 100' BEFORE the sign. There will be a gap between two islands. There is a pole on the right marking a reef and one on the left on the way through. It is not very well marked. Stay to the far left through the cut. TAKE IT SLOW first and/or watch other go through. If you miss it, your stuck. It does get deeper (to 15') there in the channel between the islands. Take/get your GPS. The ramp can also be tricky in a strong tide/current. (The locals sit and watch people crunch boats) Hit the boat trailer faster than most to maintaine control in the side current. Going slow to the trailer will get you in trouble.
Be safe.
